Summary

CrateGuard is a desktop application that runs entirely on your computer. Your music files, fingerprints, and scan results never leave your machine. We collect minimal data on our website to process payments and improve reliability.

Desktop App

The CrateGuard desktop app does not collect any personal information, usage data, analytics, or telemetry.

• No internet connection required to use the app
• All scanning and analysis happens locally on your machine
• No audio data, fingerprints, or file information is ever transmitted

Your Music Files

CrateGuard scans your audio files in a strictly read-only manner to generate acoustic fingerprints for duplicate detection.

• Files are never modified, moved, renamed, or deleted without your explicit action
• ID3 tags, Serato markers, Rekordbox analysis data, hot cues, beat grids, and other embedded metadata are never touched
• Fingerprints are generated and stored locally on your machine only

Website Analytics

This website uses Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly, cookie-free analytics service. Plausible does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track you across sites. All data is aggregated and anonymous. No individual visitor profiles are created.

We also use Sentry for error monitoring on our website. Sentry captures technical error data (stack traces, browser type, page URL) to help us fix bugs. No personally identifiable information is collected through Sentry.

Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. When you purchase a license, Stripe collects your email address and payment information. We do not store your payment details - they are handled entirely by Stripe. Stripe's Privacy Policy.

We store your email address and license key in our database to deliver and verify your license.

License Verification

License keys are verified offline using a cryptographic signature embedded in the app. A periodic online check (approximately once per week) verifies your license has not been revoked and is activated on the current device. This check transmits your license ID and an anonymous device fingerprint (a one-way hash of your machine ID - the raw ID is never sent). No personal data, usage data, or file information is included. The app works fully offline if the check cannot be completed.

Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your email and license data for as long as your license is active. If you request deletion of your data, we will remove it within 30 days. To request deletion, contact us.
